Help for Hearing Loss in Children

Yale Hearing and Balance Center offers the latest options and technologies for children with hearing loss. If a hearing loss is found, our clinicians will counsel family members on the various treatment options available, which include:

Hearing Aids

Hearing aids are the most common way to help children with hearing loss hear speech and language. Yale Hearing and Balance Center offers many options the latest in digital hearing aid technology and will work with family members to provide the best individual hearing aid solutions.

Implantable Hearing Aids

Implantable hearing aids are surgically placed behind the ear. Bone anchored hearing aids (BAHA) are designed for children who experience chronic middle ear infections or have a mixed hearing loss or for patients with hearing loss only in one ear.

Cochlear Implants

Cochlear Implants are FDA approved devices available to children 12 months or older who do not experience benefit from hearing aids.
